Self-Inquiry Guide to the First Fetter

As described here, I saw that there was no separate "self" as part of engaging with the formless layer meditations, which resulted in being in the signless state.

While this meditative state in which absolutely everything in the mind is temporarily removed provides an excellent vantage point to see that there is no such "self", this fairly quiet and deep meditative state and practice is not necessarily for everyone.

Unlike my experiences of breaking the remaining fetters, how I saw through the self-illusion is therefore not easily replicable.  However, for those who take to meditation or are otherwise interested, I have described how to do the meditative practices.

Fortunately, my friend Christiane Michelberger has now published the book How To See Through The Self-Illusion.

This comprehensive manual to inquiry into the "self" guides you through how and where to look to see through this illusion, and requires no particular meditation background or practice.

Christiane was also interviewed regarding the book by Ilona Ciunate on the
Awakening Now Podcast.
